Digital camera Review: 1 TB External Hard Drive
Summary: 5 Stars

Piece of cake to set up and use, and now I don't have to worry about losing my documents for lack of a back up! Plus the amount of space is phenomenal!

Digital camera Review: 1 TB External Review
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased one of these hard drives just over a month ago. I love that this external is set up to operate without a stand, which is fantastic compared to my old one. It takes up very little desk space, and is very quick to access information. As far its operation capabilites and potential are, I have a mish-mash assortmant of programs, music, videos, and document files stored on it. I have been listening to iTunes while playing a game, and had no problems with lagging or anything like that. I highly recomment this HDD to anyone that is seriosly considering investing into a TB of space.

Digital camera Review: 1 TB WD HD
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used this HD for about a year now and have not run into any issues. I even dropped it once and it still works fine. I have not come into any file size limit i have transferred a 10g file to the HD without a problem.

Overall every external drive I owned has been WD and I recommend it to anyone looking for external storage. As far as backing up goes I recommend using a slotable HD for some of the newer computers for speed.

I have bought seagates and other brands before and they have all broken within the first few weeks. This WD has been amazing.. Esp at the price in which I paid for it. I'm about to deploy and this thing is light weight and small enough to fit in a pocket of my backpack. Military and civilians alike I would think about this external.

Digital camera Review: 1TB External Hard Drive WD
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm very satisfied with this so far, had it some time now with no issues.

Plug and play without a hitch on Windows Vista, I have also booted my computer into various flavors of Linux and was able to access the drive no problem. I have it set up as a shared drive and all the computers on the home network can access it provided the host computer is running.

It does have a power brick to plug into the wall, not an issue for me since I don't plan on moving it much. It appears very sturdy, the rubber end caps give it a tough look. I use it in a dusty environment and it has not given me any trouble to date. Not a lot of places for dust to get in, a vent in front and back for air to pass through, the top and bottom being solid.

It does not appear to be made for standing on edge, it sits flat on the table. It did not come with a stand, but if you for some reason want it on edge propping it up will be required.

Only thing I don't like is the blue LED activity indicator is on the back where the USB and power cables connect, so it's out of sight. I'd rather that light be on the front so I can see it, but it's not a big issue for me. It is not loud but does crackle and whine when in use. When idle running it can not be heard at all.

Speed is good, I rarely send anything more than a GB or two, and it seems to be able to transfer it in a reasonable amount of time. I use it to back up photos and files from my computers to save local drive disk space.

Overall it does what I got it for and you hardly know it's there. I dump everything I can onto it and have only used 44GB so far, which is barely a drop in the bucket to what it can hold.
