Digital camera Review: 1TB Hard Drive
Summary: 5 Stars

Product is easy to use. Connects to the USB port and is immediately recognized as an external hard drive when powered. For my applications, I reformatted it to NTFS which was also direct and easy. Slim in design and occupies little space and does not slip when placed on the table top in a vertical or horizontal position because of the rubber beadings at the ends. Very quiet during operations. No software on the hard drive which I prefer since it occupies unnecessary space on the hard drive and for most users hardly ever used. Easy drag and drop for copying files whlie using windows.

Digital camera Review: 1TB Hard drive by Western Digital
Summary: 4 Stars

I spent forever looking for a decent hard drive that worked as you'd expect it to work...I thought I'd do the whole 'read the review' thing before I purchased a drive, and to be honest, if it was just down to the reviews, I doubt I'd pick any of them, since there seems to be problems with ALL of them! (If its not one thing its another!) I picked this one as the price was right, I also got the impression it was a USB powered, something I really wanted as a feature...but NO, you have to plug the thing in. Oh well, when I got it, it worked, (phew, one less thing!)the computer recognised it more quickly and seems to work faster than my Maxtor 160 gb external drive! With it being already formatted, I transferred all my films and stuff onto it, so in the end I am very happy with it...Hopefully it will serve me well in the future...

Very Easy to use and to carry around. Only problem is to carry around the power cord.

Digital camera Review: A Fantastic External HDD, Especially To Watch Movies From
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros: This drive is the absolute fastest accessible external HDD I've ever owned and I've had a plethora of them - Buffalo, WD Passport, Iomega, Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, Acomdata, etc. It has the most durable, cool casing I've ever seen and it's much better than the newer WD Elements models. It never gets hot like many HDDs and I keep it on for days without any issues as I hot swap it between computers.

Cons: It doesn't have a power button because it's automatic. However, I like to have both as most of my HDDs have had both options, but it's not a deal breaker.

If you have the power supply with the detachable prongs, make sure you go to Western Digital's website and request a replacement via email. The detachable one is faulty by design and needs to be replaced. Even though they say it's provided free for those who've purchased their WD Elements drives within the past 60 or so days, they will still send you a replacement free. It is after all defective and their responsibility.

Other Thoughts: I primarily use this drive to play movies through my PS3 and it is the fastest drive I've plugged into it. Usually it takes a few minutes for the movies and folders to appear on the XMB of the PS3 but this one appears almost immediately after the USB symbol that the drive is recognized shows up. I can pretty much instantly play video files that I have on the drive and it never hiccups like many drives I've owned before it. Steer clear of Seagate drives! They are disastrous! You can't go wrong with highly reliable Western Digital Drives. They are are brand you can count on and customer service that is top notch and highly professional.

Digital camera Review: A Great, Dependable Drive
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had the drive for about two months now, and I have nothing bad to say about it at all, which is the sign of a great hard drive. The best drives are those that put your mind at ease and never cause any worries. This drive is small (smaller than my other terabyte drives), and it doesn't feel like you'll break it when you pick it up. I'm a student photojournalist using a mac, and I use this as part of my backup system. The rubber end caps are a definite plus. The transfers are fast (as a side note, FW800 doesn't actually speed up transfers on drives - these drives can't spin that fast anyways), and I have never had any troubles with transfer times or dropped files.

The only thing that I wish this model had was an on/off switch, but I don't really mind using the power plug in place of one. Overall, a seemingly durable and sleek drive. Worth the money, especially if you found it on sale like I did.
