Digital camera Review: Deceptive Advertising!
Summary: 1 Stars

I am very disappointed as there is no mention in the technical details of there being an ac adapter.
I believed it was really plug and play via the usb, but after receiving it I am now saddled with having to carry this adapter and find an accessible outlet for it.

Besides that its a great external drive!

Digital camera Review: Default disk format isn't helpful - creates problems
Summary: 3 Stars

Disk functions as advertised. Annoying thing is that it's formatted with FAT32 file format, rather than NTFS. Problem with FAT32 format is that it can't handle files larger than 4GB. This is an issue for people who do multimedia work. In my case, I transcode DVD files into H.264 format files which can be played on my iphone and only take 500MB (rather then 4-6 GB for DVD).

I also bought the iOmega Prestige Hard Drive (1.5TB) and it does not have this limitation.

I will need to reformat the Western Digital drive for NTFS. I wish this could have been done for me out of the box, as I only discovered the problem after storing a bunch of files on the disk.

Digital camera Review: Died after 1 year & 8 months of use
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this external hard drive in February of 2009 with a 1 year warranty. I took very good care of it, barely had to move it and dusted it off occasionally. Well, after about 1 year and 8 months of use, the drive just completely died without warning. There were no power outages that would cause a short since it was plugged into a battery backup from the day I've owned it.

Since the warranty had expired, I decided to try it as an internal drive. No dice. I also tried it on other computers, and it just wouldn't boot. Luckily, I had everything backed up so I didn't lose any files. This drive is not recommended for long term use. Instead, I will be purchasing an internal drive which will be mounted as a slave. My internal Western Digital hard drive has gone 3 years so far without a single problem.

So buyer beware, as this drive may continue to stop working after long term use.

Digital camera Review: Died in a few months
Summary: 2 Stars

I got the drive in July 2009 and I've been waiting a while before I wrote my review knowing that it could fail after I wrote a good review after I first got it. And now it has failed me. I didn't do much to the drive except bring it to college and let it sit on my desk since then. It was working fine until today when it suddenly stopped working. I checked and the blue light wasn't on, so I unplugged the adapter and plugged it in again. The blue light flickered, the drive started to run again, but a few seconds later it stopped working before my computer even had time to register the drive. I have just filed a complaint to WD, but even if I get it replaced, I will have lost all my data.

Digital camera Review: Does its work fenomenally well...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an external hard drive with a storage of 1 TB and in that respect it does its work incredibly well... There's nothing more to say about it. Very recommended.
