Digital camera reviews of Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition

Digital camera Review: Best Media Center Remote with Mouse for the Price
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had tried several media center remotes over last couple years and this by far is the one I like the most. I have two of these use for two different media centers. Button performance is great, pre programed buttons work great, and mouse functionality works better than others I have tried. For the price you can't beat this remote for basic remote functionality and access to mouse when its needed. (Plug and Play for Windows 7, use it with Boxee, Itunes, Windows Media Center, Hulu Desktop, and even firefox)

The one thing would be nice is to functionality with the prep-programmed remote buttons.

Digital camera Review: Best remote I've seen, wish it was programmable
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this remote for my HTPC setup. Most of my media comes from online streaming like Hulu so a mouse was the most important component. I tried "Wireless USB PC Remote Control Mouse for PC" by HDE found in Amazon.com but the mouse didn't cut it.

Obviously I love the mouse. I agree with the everyone for the fact that the mouse's sensitivity is a little weak. When you first start, it's a little hard, but as you press, the mouse moves faster. This is a little annoying, but by adjusting the sensitivity and week's usage, you get used to it and you will be able to handle the mouse like a pro. The left and right mouse keys are in great location and work well too. The best part is the mouse moves in all directions like a circular wheel, which makes moving VERY easy.

The distance is pretty good. I have about 15 ft of distance between my couch and the receiver, and it works great. It does not however work through items. So my coffee table obstructs it, but it's something you get used to. The receiver has a little light on it that blinks everytime you press on it. I moved my received down, essentially out of sight, and it still works well with no hiccups.

The buttons feel good and everything works perfectly. My only complaint is the fact that it is non programmable. Almost 60% of the remote is useless to me. I barely use any of the buttons, and barely any of them work with my media program of choice, Boxee. I really wish you could program the buttons to do something else, but oh well, nothing's perfect. For the price, I guess you can't complain.

Installation was a breeze. Windows 7 does everything for you so no problems there.

I've noticed some people complaining that the sleep button doesn't wake up the PC, I think that's stupid. The button works like a program. It triggers the sleep mode, you can't expect it to wake up the PC. My PC is in a fancy case so the On/Off button is very easily reachable.

What I also like about the remote is that it looks good. Friends are amazed to see my funky setup and like the sleek, stylish remote.

All in all, this is a recommended remote.

Digital camera Review: Can't ask for more.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have Media Center running Windows 7 64 bit connected to my TV which acts as my DVR and cable box. I was using a wireless mouse and keyboard which was cumbersome. The keyboard was difficult to handle around in the living room.

The Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition, was easy to install. Just plug it in to the USB and the software installed itself in a few seconds. I put the batteries in and has been controlling my media center ever since.

The most time I spend in the installation was to open the package.

Digital camera Review: Cannot get Play, Pause, FFwd, Rwd buttons to work on XBMC or Boxee
Summary: 2 Stars

Environment: XP Media Center Edition 2002 with SP3.

Installation was plug and play. Does not allow any other drivers to be installed except the default. Mouse controls work well, but the play, pause and other functions for video don't work. Have to use the Mouse left click on the remote to pause video on XBMC and Boxee and the directional keys to jump ahead and behind while playing a movie.

Had great expectations for this product and sorry to say I'm very disappointed. Maybe its my fault and I'm missing something, but have tried everything from HIP to MCE replacement drivers.

If anyone can help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Digital camera Review: Cheap, Fast and Easy- good with Vista
Summary: 5 Stars

works on my Windows Vista Media Center. plug and play goodness. no drivers, no installs, no downloads, no nothings... it worked just like i wanted it too, fast and easy(just how i like my women). It is taking me longer to type this review than it did to plug in the the USB IR sensor, put the (included) batteries into the remote, and then point the remote at it and have it work my Vista Media Center. and for less than 20$ i am happy a happy consumer. yippee for this remote!

the only thing i kind of dont like is that the red light on the IR unit lights up every time you hit a button on the remote. definitely not bad enough to lower it from 5 stars tho... if you want a cheap remote to work your Vista Windows Media Center... go get this one.
