Digital camera reviews of Xerox Phaser 6130/N Color Laser PrinterDigital camera Review: Nice printer Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I didn't realize this printer would be as big as it is. So if you're thinking of purchasing it, have enough room for it. The CD has a video you can watch to set it up or you can follow the diagrammed instruction sheet. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes to set it up.
I decided to hook it with my upstairs laptop that using the net via Wi-Fi. All you have to install the printer driver on the other computer and let the connection pick up the IP address and before you know it you'll be printing from another room wirelessly. The Ethernet or USB cords do not come with the printer.
The quality of the printing is nice. The colors are crisp and it prints fairly quickly.
This would be a nice printer for a home based business or a small office.
Digital camera Review: No regrets Summary: 5 Stars
This printer has, so far, lived up to all the expectations I built while researching color laser printers which I did for quite some time. My previous primary printer was a B/W HP Laserjet 4L which I used for about six years and went through only 3 toner cartridges. It was very economical but once reasonable, I wanted to add color, of the laser variety. I've had several ink jet printers and am driven crazy by the amount of money I've had to spend on ink. The Xerox Phaser 6130 was an excellent price for a color laser and the print quality and workmanship did not disappoint. Set up was easy and seemless for my Mac. Print speed and start up time from idle are quite quick. The cost of toner cartridges kind of scares me but this would only be a concern if they don't last very long. Time will tell. If I had the choice to make over? This would be the printer I would buy again.
Digital camera Review: Office performance at home Summary: 4 Stars
For the money, this is a fine choice for home color laser printer. I had ours now for 6 months and love how superior it works over our ink jet. No more running colors from water spill on printed paper. The toner cartridges last what seems like forever. They are pricey, but in the end, this unit will pay for itself over the pricier more frequently replaced ink jet.
Digital camera Review: Solid Printer, Not a speed demon... Summary: 5 Stars
Got a few days ago ($207 from vendor on amazon.com). Easily connected to my wireless router. Now anyone connected to the network can use the printer (even wireless...). Great print quality, especially black text and color graphics. Pictures are above average for a laser printer. If you want quick print speeds, this is not the printer for you. It is a little on the slow side, but not bad if your print demand is low. Works great for my home office. Nice Printer! No problems yet!
2 year update: According to the printer, it has printed over 10,000 pages (almost 50% color/50% black). Still going strong. Super cheap to operate. LD printer cartridges work great and are approximately $20/each. Sometimes makes loud squealing noises but continues to print with it's original print quality although sometimes I wish it were in a different room. Able to network with xp, vista, and 7. Now there's compatibility...
Digital camera Review: The Rebirth of Home Printing ... God Bless Xerox! Summary: 5 Stars
Like many others who have posted reviews, and as a lifelong computer user with 20 years of printing experience, I had become completely fed up with the overall quality of printers offered for sale for the last 10 year or so. Inkjet printers as a category have gone to crap; our first inkjet (circa 1994) was great, but the last three I have purchased have all quickly degenerated into useless, moneysucking, ink-spraying paperweights.* Inability to print the simplest things (like travel reservations, order receipts, etc.) without buying yet another set of ink was driving me up the wall. "Entry-level" laser printers had finally become affordable, but the horror stories of delicate operation, funny smells, horrendous noises, outrageous power consumption, and deplorable Customer disService departments were scaring me off.
After much reading and calculating and meandering, I took the plunge and ordered a 6130. It arrived quickly and was well packaged, and has been the mirror opposite of all the horror stories I had read about "affordable" laser printers. It is quiet, fast, has never jammed, produces clean, sharp prints, and was quite easy to set up. Plenty of documentation (both printed and on disc) was included. It is taller than an inkjet, but very compact, basically a 16" cube. I run the printer via USB with a Toshiba laptop running WinXP SP2; installing the driver was quick and easy, and the print quality is great. After struggling for years with Canon, HP, and Epson inkjets,** I can't begin to say how happy I am with this sweet machine! Buy with confidence!
* In all honesty, I have kept the last of those (an Epson CX5000) around for use as a scanner, but ripped out its useless printer guts long ago.
** In the defense of Canon, HP, and Epson, they all produce wonderful professional-level products. But unless you're running a service bureau or just enjoy burning cash, how can the expense be justified or an individual. The units they target for home use are horrendous! Have your photos printed at Wal-Mart or Target (as a semi-pro photographer, it kills me to type that!), and get this Phaser for your personal business use.
