Digital camera reviews of Xpad (Non-slip Laptop Cooler and Heatshield)Digital camera Review: Does What It's Supposed To Do! Summary: 5 Stars
Attributes:
1. Cools your lap
It definitely keeps your lap cool for those times on the couch, on the bed, et cetera when either you don't want to burn your legs on a laptop with a CPU running at 150+ degrees or when you just don't want to cover the fan for your laptop's sake. This is the MAIN feature of this X-Pad.
2. Keeps your computer cool
So, I have a 15" Toshiba Satellite laptop (or did rather before it just broke a month ago and I'm switching for a Gateway NV 17" that I'll be using with the X-Pad Slim... I'll review that once it's here). For a quick summary, the X-Pad reduced my heat by approximately 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Basically, by providing more room under the laptop, it helps the fan inside your pc (or mac) do it's job better by circling cooler air.
3. Comfort and grip-ability
I use it all the time on my lap without any complaint. The padding isn't the best, but it works. The rubber parts on the top (forming the "X" referred to in the X-Pad) work great. I don't take my laptop anywhere without also taking the X-Pad. Won't fall off the pad.
Conclusion/Practicality
I really love the X-Pad. It is simple, doesn't drain your battery with usb-powered fans, is lightweight, and works. What more could you ask really? I wish the price was a little cheaper, even $20 or so... but other than that I would recommend this to anyone, and like I said, I'm getting the X-Pad Slim for my new 17" laptop.
Digital camera Review: Does its job, but some things to consider first Summary: 4 Stars
This product does its job - keeping my laptop from A) overheating so easily and B) cooking my lap when it is hot. However, it's not quite large enough to be intended for use with 17" screen laptops like mine. I use it anyway, but my laptop hangs over the edges and needs readjusting sometimes. Also, the top and sides are made of plastic, while the bottom is dense foam-like material; the problem lies in the boundary between the materials. The foam compresses, leaving you with a thin plastic edge digging into your leg. This is only and issue when sitting certain ways - with it and my laptop squarely on my lap being supported by both of my legs, it's fine. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase.
Digital camera Review: Does the Job Summary: 5 Stars
The Xpad is exactly as described ... non-slip surface, eliminates heat transfer between my legs and my laptop, elevates my laptop to allow proper airflow...and it fits easily into my laptop bag. The product is stable without being bulky or heavy and it doesn't interfere with my unit's internal cooling system.
Digital camera Review: Does the job - K.I.S.S. Summary: 5 Stars
This is simplicity itself, hence the K.I.S.S. rating. If it weren't made of plastic it would be a totally GREEN environmental winner! Still, as it is, it is a WINNER at our house. It doesn't have to be plugged in, it fits a 17" laptop, it is lightweight, it fits in my laptop bag. GREAT PRICE!! Couldn't be better.

Digital camera Review: Does the job it is designed to do! Summary: 4 Stars
I was impressed with this product. It was actually thinner than the "fan" models I had been looking at. Did not make any noise as it does not have electronic parts and it was relatively thin. I have used it for well over 1.5 years now with my Mac Pro and I tend to use it for travel and home use. It does keep the computer cooler and deflects the heat away from the user's lap. However, at times, I still find myself placing a pillow between it and my lap during long term use. If it is placed on a hard surface with the computer on top of it, to me it functions best. It is slightly thicker than I would like as I carry mine in my bag with me during travels, and slightly rounded edges would be a nice improvement, but overall, I much prefer this to other solutions on the market. I do plan to purchase the new thinner model as well.
