Digital camera reviews of Xtremehd 4-PORT HDmi SwitcherDigital camera Review: HDMI SWITCH Summary: 3 Stars
We received the first Xtremehd 4-port Switch, and to our dismay it did not work - at all!! There is no power button to turn unit on and off on the unit itself. You have to rely on a tiny remote control to power it. Tried replacing the button battery in the remote, but no luck. Amazon was great about getting another unit out to us quickly, and it seems to work well. I am still not very comfortable with the lack of power button on the unit itself. The remote is small enough to likely be lost, which leaves you out of luck. Large design flaw, in my opinion. Also does not come with any HDMI cables. Should come with at least one 4-6 ft cable to connect unit to HDTV.
Digital camera Review: HDMI switch Summary: 4 Stars
Its a decent switch as far as I can tell, but some computers will think there is no hdmi connection if the switch is set on another input.
If another HDMI switch can keep the signal "alive" as if still connected to an HDMI monitor/tv then it is better than this one.
Since this is my first HDMI switch, I don't know if any other HDMI switches can keep the signal alive.
On the outside it looks nice and sturdy. It has a remote with apple functionality built in. Its style is apple-esque so it will match your mac.
Overall I like it since I have a couple Macs and a PS3.
Digital camera Review: Had high hopes but, Summary: 2 Stars
Purchased this along with Oppo DV-981-HD DVD player after reading all the reviews. Being a Mac person I admit to being partial. It arrived first so set it up and it worked fine with Directv. Then today the DVD player arrived, you guessed it, it didn't work with the switch. The player works fine when directly connected to the TV. Called Oppo and they stated they've experienced a lot of problems with different HDMI switches, so just because the specs on this switch say it should be compatible, that isn't always the reality. Obviously with the player working fine with the tv they feel the problem lies with the switch. The question that needs to be answered apparently is does the switch have a TI chip, apparently it is quite flaky. Too late to talk to XtremeMac, after hours. Have sent them an email and will await what they have to say. :( BTW Oppo will be coming out with their own switch in a couple weeks because of the problems out there, and not with a TI chip.
FOLLOW UP: XtremeMac admits HDCP and chipset issues. Will return, first time I've done this with Amazon, pretty easy so far. :)
Digital camera Review: Had one that worked but the two I got from Amazon - NO POWER Summary: 1 Stars
This item is a piece of junk. Either Amazon is marketing a junk item or the company has sunk to a bad level. I had one of these that worked great so I figured I would get another after the Terk one I bought was garbage. I got one and tried it and no power came on...I tried everthing even hooking up the components and no dice. So I sent it back and got another and same thing...no power...this thing is garbage too...dont bother with it..
Digital camera Review: I am very satisfied with my purchase. Summary: 5 Stars
I had a 5-port HDMI switcher that worked well with all my appliances, except with my Apple TV. I therefore had no choice but to buy an Apple TV compatible HDMI switcher, and the Xtremehd 4-PORT HDMI Switcher is.
If you have an Apple TV, make sure the HDMI switcher is compatible with it. I have a Sony Bravia 46" TV, and I tried all settings, both on my TV and on my Apple TV, to make the switcher work with Apple TV, but it did not. However, as soon as I connected my Apple TV to the Xtremehd 4-PORT HDMI Switcher, it worked, with no settings on my TV or Apple TV whatsoever.
The switcher comes with a remote control that makes it a snap to change from one HDMI output to another. For example, on port 1 of the switcher, I have my DVD player. On Port 2, I have my Apple TV. On Port 3, I have my Xbox. Switching from one to the other is done simply by pressing 1,2, or 3 on your remote control. It is that simple!
The Xtremehd 4-PORT HDMI Switcher is also the same size as the Apple TV, so I have them stacked on top of each other.
