For the amount of money you spend on this Zeikos multi-coated UV filter, it's by far the cheapest insurance you can buy to protect your lens. I bought this UV filter to protect my Tamron 28-75mm lens ([...]). I use the lens with a Nikon D5000 camera and so far the images have been superb. No drop off in optical quality at all.
The filter isn't perfect though (hence the 4-star rating). If you point your lens at the sun then yes you will get some flare in your shot, mine happen to be green. The lens itself is known to be susceptible to flaring so I don't expect an $[...] lens filter to make miracles happen. It does protect my lens though and for that, this UV filter is worth every little penny I spent.
