I got the ZoomH2 so that I could provide practice recordings for people in the choir I work with. I found it easy to use for recording. The recording sound quality is very nice. It is very easy to adjust the gain on the recording. One downside is that you can't pause a recording and then continue, it starts a new file, but I can easily live with that. The other downside is that you have to use the earbuds to listen to a recording. It doesn't have any speakers. Not a big deal for what I'm using it for. All I can say is that I love the Zoom H2 recorder.
It's an amazing little device.
The surround sound recordings are life-like and 3-D.
The mics themselves sound damn good.
My only gripe is the way 5 STAR GAMING failed to secure
the postal box with some extra packing tape.
I mean, seriously, you're gonna trust the shipping box's
peel and stick strip only?!
Well, it came unstuck and the box looked like it had been
through a rough ride with the flap completely unstuck
and open on the postal box.
It appears it had fallen in the truck and slid because of the
marks and damage to the box.
Luckily, the H2 escaped relatively unscathed with only it's
factory box slightly torn.
Hey 5 Star Gaming, you might want to make sure your shipping people
take a few extra seconds from now on to wrap some packing tape around all
peel-and-stick postal boxes for some much-needed reinforcement.
Just a thought.

This is my first decent audio recorder and I'm delighted. I bought the Zoom H2 on Amazon to do interviewing while on the road and it worked GREAT. Took me an hour or two with the manual which i found to be decently thorough and well written. I'm not a detail person and hate figuring out sequenced instructions but once i got the hang of the logic of the instructions this recorder worked GREAT. Lots of great little add-ons that don't cost extra like a mini-stand, and holder for the mic and USB cord to attach to a computer. Instructions have decent graphics also. Would highly recommend if you're doing any kind of quality recording. Technology isn't my bag though i love using the stuff with short and intuitive learning curves.
Took me forever to find the H2 reviews on Amazon though-initial screens after a search are cluttered with big sellers that don't have near the features or value for the money.

This is the response I got from my 17yr old muso Grandson after he had this zoom H2 to assess for a couple of weeks. He says its good not only for their band jam sessions but especially for recording ideas when he has them so as not to forget them.
The thing I was soooo impressed with was the quick and efficient way I received this item all the way to Auckland New Zealand in just 5 days, I ordered an item from a local shop 10 days ago and I'm still waiting!!!
