Digital camera reviews of Zune 80 GB Digital Media Player (Red)

Digital camera Review: Good Hardware, Terrible Software
Summary: 3 Stars

Whoever designed the zune software should switch professions. It took days to get my zune properly synced. However, once the music was transfered and organized, the player worked great.

Digital camera Review: Good, but could be better
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had my 80gb zune for a few months now. It is a very good mp3 player/ media device. There are a lot of great features on the zune like fm radio, wireless syncing, and a really good looking screen. Sound quality on zune is great, battery life is decent (when wifi turned off). My chief complaints about the zune would have to be the zune software and zune firmware. The zune software is horrible, doesn't hold a candle to iTunes. The zune firmware isn't really that user friendly (for lack of a better word), I still can't figure out how to play only one song on repeat (if there is even that function) other then creating a playlist with one song. There are lot of things the zune could improve on, like little options/fuctions on the ipod we take forgranted. Overall, it is a really great device.

Digital camera Review: Great Device
Summary: 4 Stars

I absolutely love this device. It is packed full of features and has great performance. With the latest firmware update, they have added 2 games onto the device (more games can be added by using some MS Tools).

The touch sensitive control pad makes it easy to navigate your selection, even quick movements of your finger in an up or down motion will make your selection bar move quickly, almost like a roulette wheel.

Movies are breeze to get on. I converted a number of my home movies using DVD Catalyst, and the quality was amazing on the device.

The 4 star rating is because of the quirks it has:

My only complaints are that it forces you to use the Zune Software. I would have much rather used Windows Media Player to create playlists and sync, or have the ability to copy files directly to it like a removable USB Device (my wife's Gigabeat S30 can do this function). The only thing I do like about the Zune Software, is that it makes tagging/grouping movies I've converted (I ripped my Band Of Brothers Collection, and it allowed to mark them all as being related, with episode numbers, titles, etc), as for music and playlist transfer...I still would rather have WMP

I also have noticed that the touch pad is extremly sensitive. At times, I have accidentally jumped songs, or messed with the volume not even realizing it.

An included AC Adapter would have been nice too, but the only thing included in the box is a USB cable. While it does charge quickly, this makes getting a quick recharge in an airport difficult without pulling out lots of equipment.

Battery life is ok...depending on what you are doing...for music, it'll last you a while, but for movies, I was only able to watch 1 1/2 movies before it powered off.

Overall, even with it's quirks, I would 100% recommend this device who is looking for a feature loaded mp3 player.

Digital camera Review: Great so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm new at using an MP3 player, but getting it set up and going was easy. The sound is good, and learning all the uses seems intuitive. I liked the size and capacity for the price compared to an iPod. With 80 gigabytes of space, I probably will never fill it up, but I won't feel limited or have to make choices of what not to put in it. There are no technical problems; however, it's not a 24/7 or even a 12/7 or 4/5 gadget. Even us old grandpa types can navigate stuff 12 to 25-year olds can--old dogs, new tricks aren't that much of a problem. I may not know how to program a TIVO (don't have one), or figure out all the glitches in my laptop, but the ZUNE only has 3 buttons, so how much does one have to know to enjoy it?

Digital camera Review: How can you not give the Zune 5 Stars?!?!?!
Summary: 5 Stars

I swear, how can people this 3 stars or below it completely kills and blows ipod's out of the freakin' water and I have already had this for like 7 months, and nothing so far has happened to it. Though there was this point when I had it, when I updated it with Zune 3.0 and every time the battery was like half-way the Zune would freeze, then I started to question whether it was the Zune. Turns out it was the update that was messing with my Zune because i updated it with Zune 3.1 and it stopped doing that. The whole point is that this thing is better than an 80 GB ipod because my cousin got his like 2 months before me and his messed up like 2 months ago (you do the math) so, basically if you ask me this is a much better buy then that peice o' poop.
