Digital camera Review: A screen protector for the ages
Summary: 5 Stars
$6 plus shipping might seem a bit pricey for a single screen protector, but this isn't like those cheapie protectors you get in three packs. This is a screen protector intended to last as long your Zen. The plastic is thicker than the cheapies you might have seen at your local retailer which makes it very durable and easier to install (it won't roll up on you, and it can be easily peeled back during installation to eliminate air bubbles; more on that below). I've used similar protectors on various touchscreen devices in the past, and they literally last for years, so, yeah, it's $6, but it's the only screen protector you'll ever have to buy.
Installation can be a little tricky because the protector is cut to the exact size of the Zen's screen meaning you have zero room for error. Find a good source of light and take your time (in other words, wait until the kids are in bed!) and you shouldn't have much trouble getting perfect alignment. First clean the screen to remove dust and then apply the protector slowly and use the included card to carefully smooth it flat as you move from one end to the other. If an air bubble forms, simply lift the protector back to the air bubble and carefully smooth it out again. It only takes a couple of minutes, but the results will be worth it. Once it's in place, you can't even tell it's there.
Shipping from i-nique was very reasonable (around $5) and fast: Amazon predicted two- to three-weeks; i-nique had it to me in one. For complete protection of your Zen, I also recommend the i-nique Tuff-Luv Exec soft Napa leather case.
One final note: while the product description specifies that this is for 4GB and 8GB Zen models, it also fits the 32GB model.
