Digital camera reviews of iHome Bike to Beach Speaker System for iPod (Black)Digital camera Review: this is great Summary: 4 StarsI debated on this for quite a while. I decided to get it after I talked to a friend who got one. This thing is great. I have a 1st generation ipod. The sound is pretty good given the size of speaker. It makes a big difference if you adjust the ipod eq to fit your music style. I listen to a lot of hard rock and metal when biking. I set my ipod to treble boost and it sounds good.Loud enough over most traffic. I like being able to plug in wall listen to music without batteries in it and charge my ipod. I feel this is a good buy if you are on your bike a lot. I don't give it 5 stars because I wish it went louder. But, I listen to metal and like loud music. Still a good buy.
Digital camera Review: doesn't work with my iPod... Summary: 2 Starsalthough it says it works with 4G iPods, it didn't work with mine. My software was up to date and all that. When I hooked it up I could only control volume up or down, nothing else. That being said for newer iPods that it probably works with this is a nice looking product and the sound quality is pretty good as well.
Digital camera Review: great sound! Summary: 5 StarsI used this speaker for bike riding and it is awesome! It came with a great bag that we plan to use when we hike or go to the beach. This is a great investment for anyone who has an iPod on the go.
Digital camera Review: great bicycling companion Summary: 4 StarsFor a small portable speaker, the sound is better than I expected. I also find the volume range to be substantial enough to make it listenable while riding - adding in wind, road noise, traffic, etc. I do like that my iPod is protected in the cannister, and the remote works beautifully. I wish the remote was smaller and could be clipped onto a shirt or jacket, similar to an iPod Shuffle, rather than the handlebar mount (which I just don't like cluttering up my handlebars). I also would prefer that the main unit fit into a standard water bottle cage, rather than having to attach theirs.
I am using rechargeable batteries to run, and will be curious to see the power lifespan.
When all is said and done, this is a nice way and a safe way to listen to some music or a podcast while riding/commuting - which is my primary mode of transportation. Safer than headphones for sure.
Digital camera Review: The best addition to a neighborhood bike ride Summary: 5 StarsMy kids LOVE being able to share their music around the neighborhood with this speaker. The biggest drawback is that they can turn it up TOO loud :) The batteries so far have lasted well, I was surprised at how little of the ipod battery was drained. The remote is a nice feature and the cap for the speaker is a good idea. The biggest problem I foresee is remembering to take the ipod out of the speaker when the kids are done using it. Overall a very useful and fun item!
