Digital camera reviews of iHome iH9 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black)

Digital camera Review: Already Broken -- Poor Design
Summary: 1 Stars

Otherwise a nice product, the volum wheel stopped working after about 1 year. I have read many of the same complaints, all the way back to the iH5. They should have fixed this defect by now. Only buy this if you want to only be able to use the remote to change the volume, which is a pain, especially at night in the dark.

Digital camera Review: An Excellent Product

iHome iP9 Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (black)

I bought this product for each of my two Grandchildren. It was an excellent choice for them to take to college in the fall. It has proven to be everything they had hoped it would be. They are so pleased with the sound and the ease of use.

Digital camera Review: Annoying iPod touch buzz
Summary: 2 Stars

Simple alarm clock. Some of the annoyances get in the way:

* The dimmest setting is too bright. Must turn the backlight completely off at night unless I feel like reading.
* The control over the dimmer is the snooze. This means that when I hit the snooze button for any reason at night, I have to count out seven or eight more clicks to turn the backlight off again.

The biggest annoyance/nuisance is the buzz I hear when the speakers are on. I can be playing nothing through the docked ipod and still hear it. It doesn't seem to be dependent on the volume (much), so I can easily mostly drown it out, but it's the lowest quality sound I've ever seen on any speaker unit. Suitable for waking up. Going to sleep, sometimes the buzz bothers me.

Adjusting alarms is painful. The wheel may seem like a great idea, but that's not a great way to shift a time. Remembering which one is volume in ipod mode is also bothersome.

Would I buy this product again knowing what I know now? Absolutely not. Is it so bad I'm wishing I returned it? No.

Digital camera Review: Attempts to jump on iPod Bandwagon with weak product
Summary: 1 Stars

It has good sound -- which is about the only really good thing I can say about it.

The remote only provides a subset of the iPod functions, making it almost useless for any but the most rudamentary functions.

FM performance is dismal at best. The radio is easily overloaded by strong stations with the result that weak (and even moderately strong)stations) tend to be mixed with adjacent stations.

The set top controls look cool and try to duplicate those of the iPod, but are difficult to use in practice.

The manual is brief, poorly written, and generally inadequate.

This is indicative of a product that has been rushed to market with the lowest possible investment of time and money by the manufacturer in order to jump on the bandwagon provided by successful products like iPod.

Digital camera Review: Audio Hum
Summary: 2 Stars

I went through two of these and both had a nasty audio hum. I finally gave up and bought another brand. Shame, great case and docking station but the hum made it unusable.
