Digital camera reviews of iHome iHM3 Portable Speaker System for iPod and MP3 Players (Pink)Digital camera Review: Cute but blew out within a week Summary: 2 Stars
I was very excited about buying this, especially because it is so portable. However, I've owned this for about a month and have not been impressed. I thought I'd found a good, cheap deal on Amazon, but there are very few good things about this. Here's a general synopsis of my views:
Good:
-Ultra compact and portable. I LOVE that this doesn't have cords and doesn't need to be plugged in. It comes with a cute, cushy carrying case and is small enough to fit into just about any bag.
-Extremely simple, easy to navigate. No problems with too much technology here.
Bad:
-Not enough sound. I was looking for something with a little more 'oomph.' I cranked the sound up all the way and it still could barely compete with my laptop speakers.
-As a result, the speakers blew out within a WEEK. I wasn't playing music with particularly heavy bass or loud parts, but now the sound is so bad I can't even use them. I know I probably maxed them out, but it seems a little unreasonable.
-Battery life isn't great. I've used this less than 10 times, and the batteries are gone. Extremely frustrating.
Overall: If you don't need a lot of sound and are looking for something compact with light use, this will be great. If you want ANYTHING above that, go for something with a little better quality.
Digital camera Review: Good for listening quietly Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this at Wal-Mart and used it for about six months. It's compact, easy to set up and affordable. The connection to the speaker is through the headphone jack - not the ipod USB jack. The picture on the package shows the ipod upright but you can't use it that way. It's not a huge deal because you just rest it on the side but something to note. It also will not charge your iPod. Another thing I found somewhat irritating is the shelf the iPod rests on moves - so if you pick the speaker up with the iPod attached to move it the shelf shifts or goes in and the ipod falls off. It's not a problem if you don't move it or you hang on to both pieces when you move it. I always managed to drop the ipod but the speaker cord is short so it doesn't fall far.
The sound quality is marginal at best. Don't think for a minute you're going to rock out the house and thump the windows and walls. If you turn up the volume too loud it gets crackly. It's best left at mid volume. The battery life is pretty good. I used mine about three times a week and the batteries lasted about 2 months for regular Duracells. I then switched to rechargeable Duracells and they lasted about the same length of time.
After a while I upgraded to a better speaker set and gave this to a friend who is still using it. Not sure how long it will last but so far it's running strong.
Digital camera Review: Great for audio books Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this at Sears and have been using it to listen to audio books on my MP3 since Christmas. It is great because it is portable and goes around the house with me while I work. I am looking forward to taking it into the yard in the summer. The only crackling I have experienced was when the batteries needed to be changed and I thought they lasted a long time--I've only changed them once and use this a lot.
Digital camera Review: Its Works fine Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this one since the others didnt fit my ipod classic. =S
Heres my run through about the product. I like it and the sound is okay *I enjoy my hearing and not having my eardrums popped*
I hate the color pink *yes Im a girl* but that was the only color available.
The battery power was horrible, till I realized that I forgot to turn it completely off. PLus, when the battery power is low, then the sound slowly dies. Once I put new batteries in, it was loud.
Also, my other speakers had a little adapter plug so you could plug it into the wall. This one didnt.
Still, Its cheap.
Digital camera Review: Not worth the money Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this item from a local store, and now I'm looking for a new set of speakers. Even with the volume cranked and brand-new batteries, I can hardly hear these sitting right next to them. I like listening to my Ipod while doing handwork, and the earphone cord can get in the way, but I'm in a quiet space and this still isn't loud enough. Also, it cuts in and out, even though the sound is perfectly clear with the earphones.
