Digital camera Review: Great little stand for your desk, not so much your lap

While I was excited to have a rest for my wrists on my sharp macbook, I quickly dumped the front velvet thing which isn't so squishy and soft as I thought, its more a firm velvet covered thing. Other than that I love having it on my desk for my laptop, it seems to dissipate heat well and the inclined angle actually allows my hands to fall more naturally and NOT press them into the sharp edge of my laptop. The back-hinge is really flimsy but like I said its great on the desk. On my lap, it is great in keeping me fertile however I didn't mind it more comfortable if not less than the bare laptop, but it does keep the heat away!
I know this sounds very negative but in the end I love this stand even if it is overpriced. The angle is great and the metal is very nice looking, just pop off the front support and enjoy!

The iLap Laptop Stand by Rain Design is an outstanding option for not only using your laptop in a chair without burning up your legs, but it also works well without the cushion on a desktop. As advertised, it acts as a cool sink to actually keep your computer running cooler (check iStat). I had read other reviews where people had complained about the wrist cushion coming off, but I have not experienced that problem. It is actually lighter than I expected and is extremely comfortable in your lap. If you're looking for something to enable you to use your notebook while seated in a chair without heating up your legs I would highly recommend the iLap Laptop Stand by Rain Design.Digital camera Review: Great product

This is a grat product. I use it every single day with my laptop. I find it especially useful in bed, where it lets me use the laptop on top of my lap, without being on the cover and getting too hot.

I love the iLap as it is comfortable, keeps my Macbook cool, and elevates the wrists. The only design flaw that I wasn't thrilled with was the pad that hooks on the front. It slides off when picking the iLap up. I remedied the problem by purchasing some inexpensive flat hair bands (about $2 for 8 of them) and slipped one around the pad and the bend at the base of the iLap. Haven't had problem since. It's such a simple fix that I think Rain Design should consider including a band.Digital camera Review: Have bought two

I bought an ILap stand for myself a year ago to use with my MacBook Pro, partly to dissipate heat. I use it every day while working long hours on a magazine. The second ILap was a gift for my son-in-law, who also uses his laptop constantly for his job. I looked at other styles by other manufacturers (with fans, etc.) but this is by far the best choice. When I spoke by phone with an Apple tech this year about a battery issue, she told me SHE has the same ILap and recommended it. No-brainer.
