Digital camera reviews of iriver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter

Digital camera Review: 2004 Malibu
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this fm transmitter for my 2004 Malibu LT- but for some reason, the size of the AC outlet (both the one in the middle console and on dash) is not big enough to hook the transmitter up! So warning to all of those with a 2004 Malibu- do not buy... it will not fit!

Digital camera Review: 3 months perfect
Summary: 2 Stars

I was extremely happy with this for the first 3 months I had it, then it just stopped working. It comes on, but doesn't transmit on any channel. It only has a 90 day warranty so I'm out of luck on returning it. I bought the Belkin Tunecast II and returned it the next day...piece of junk. Now I have one by Monster Cables and it seems good so far.

Digital camera Review: 30-second auto-shutoff a turnoff
Summary: 1 Stars

I travel 500 miles a week and use my fm transmitter for every trip. In turn, I have listened to countless albums on the transmitter. Though it gets good reception and has good sound, the 30-second shutoff is a horrible feature. It is not a smart feature because songs that have low volume or begin with low volume are not picked up by the transmitter. So, I could be listening to a song, and in the middle of it, there might be a lull in the volume of music. If that lower volume is more tha 30 seconds, the transmitter will turn off with a shocking squeal, followed by radio static. It's bad enough that it has that shocker when I try to change albums after one is finished (better find the album quickly... I have only 30 seconds!). It's unforgivable that the transmitter doesn't pick up actual sounds. That's really horrible when trying to listen to some podcasts. Of course, I could turn up the volume on the Ipod, but anything above about 55% volume will distort (as noted in the owner's manual of the Iriver transmitter). In turn, I am left with a good piece of equipment for 90% of the product, but the other 10% (the auto shutoff) is an unbearable feature.

Digital camera Review: A Big Find for a Small Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used the Iriver AFT 100 fm transmitter for the past four months and have enjoyed excellent reception using both my Samsung and MS Zune players.

Living in the Philly metro area, it can be hard to find a station to utilize, but my Iriver transmits strongly on virtually every channel I choose. In fact, I have a Zune FM transmitter/charger that works only about half as well. Its reception is poor and there is ALWAYS a low hiss, regardless of what station I use. On the other hand, the IRiver consistently performs quietly and smoothly, with only the occasional intermittent crackle at the very worst.

There is only one con that I can find. The auto shut-off feature will almost always turn the unit off 30 seconds into songs with quiet intros. It can be a nagging pain in the side. I have found that this happens on my Samsung MP3 player, although I cannot say I have had this happen with the Zune. I will have to try and test this.

Overall, an excellent tuner that works very well. It delivers on what it promises!

Digital camera Review: A Mostly Reliable Item
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this product about a month ago and it has been working just fine except for a few minor incidents when it briefly lost power and made a strange buzzing noise over my speakers. I attribute this glich to my car's power supply, though. Great product and much cheaper than buying a new stereo deck with an auxiliary input.
