Digital camera Review: Almost Sent It Back...BUT!

I was looking for something that would take MP3 CDs and/or SD/USB MP3s AND cassette tapes for my wife. This fit the bill. I ran into some of the same problems already mentioned here so I will address them.
The display is a lighted display which can be seen optimally/only from above and not in front. It can be seen in the dark, though.
I had the same difficulty with MP3 CDs as another reviewer. All the MP3 CDs I used were created on my home computer. All except one would only scan for a few seconds then move to the next without playing anything. Taking a tip from one reviewer (and seeing the bit rate for the CD that would play) I lowered the bit rate to 128 or lower (set of larger files worked at 112 but not 128). Those discs were burned with the same burner as before and worked fine. I tried different discs and burners before figuring this out.
I also had problems with MP3s on a 512MB SD card. Some songs cut short, some continued to "play" past the end (silently), and it would not do all on the card. It also locked up and quit playing (turned it off to reset) after playing only so many files. These songs were 192 bit rate. I lowered the bit rate to 128 and now it works fine. NOTE: to play songs (or "see" them) in "order" they need written to the card in that order. I even formatted the card to get this right.
Another problem I ran into was the CD player showing a CD was a "Bad Disk". This resulted when it was running on batteries (8Cs). The batteries were unused but were not new nor optimal, however.
